With a population of 45,485, 13,318 total housing units (homes and apartments), and a median house value of $590,415, Blacksburg house prices are not only among the most expensive in Virginia, Blacksburg real estate also is some of the most expensive in all of America.

Large apartment complexes or high rise apartments are the single most common housing type in Blacksburg, accounting for 46.30% of the town's housing units.
