Vienna Profile

Overview

Vienna is a very small town located in the state of Ohio. With a population of 3,799 people and just one neighborhood, Vienna is the 305th largest community in Ohio.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns, Vienna isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Vienna are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Vienna is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Vienna who work in sales jobs (12.49%), office and administrative support (10.95%), and management occupations (10.07%).

Of important note, Vienna is also a town of artists. Vienna has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Vienna’s character.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 8.87% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Vienna has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Vienna has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Vienna than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Vienna may be for you.

Vienna Demographics

The citizens of Vienna are slightly better educated than the national average of 21.84% for all cities and towns, with 24.32% of adults in Vienna having a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.

The per capita income in Vienna in 2018 was $33,049, which is upper middle income relative to Ohio and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $132,196 for a family of four. However, Vienna contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Vienna home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Vienna residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Vienna include German, English, Italian, Irish, and Hungarian.

The most common language spoken in Vienna is English. Other important languages spoken here include Italian and Greek.
