Darien is a very small coastal city (i.e. on the ocean, a bay, or inlet) located in the state of Georgia. With a population of 1,558 people and two associated neighborhoods, Darien is the 291st largest community in Georgia.

Of important note, Darien is also a city of artists. Darien has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Darien’s character.

Darien has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Darien than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. One of the nice things about Darien is that it is nautical, which means that parts of it are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and bays. Because of this, visitors and locals will often go to these areas to take in the scenery or to enjoy waterfront activities.

In terms of college education, Darien is somewhat better educated than the 21.84% who have a 4-year degree or higher in the typical US community: 26.23% of adults 25 and older in the city have at least a bachelor's degree.
