Woonsocket, RI – November 24, 2008
NeighborhoodScout, a nationwide neighborhood search engine designed for homebuyers, movers, and anyone seeking to find neighborhoods that match custom search criteria, announced today the appointment of Barry Glick to its board of directors. Glick, who is a founder and former CEO of MapQuest, will lead the company’s strategic effort to build visibility and expand NeighborhoodScout into new markets.
Glick brings 20 years of experience building and leading scalable and innovative companies built around the theme of location, image and text-based information products and services. During his tenure at MapQuest, Glick implemented a significant capital-raising plan that led the company to expand exponentially, and eventually sold to AOL for $1.1 billion.
“NeighborhoodScout offers a unique, valuable service, and I am impressed at how well it can help home seekers make decisions by answering the first question most ask: ‘where should I focus my house hunt?'” said Glick. “The capability to easily search for neighborhoods around the country based on the critical factors that people want is revolutionary. I look forward to joining their team so that together we can take this company to new places.”
In addition to his success at MapQuest, Glick recently worked for NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality digital map data. NAVTEQ was sold to Nokia this summer for $8.1 billion. He was also CEO at Webraska Mobile Technologies and ObjectFX, Inc., and is currently a partner at Geocodex LLC and principal at Carillon Ventures LLC.
“Consumer interest and demand for web-based location information services like the ones we provide at NeighborhoodScout are growing rapidly, and we believe we have made a great investment for our company by adding Barry Glick to our team,” said Andrew Schiller, president and founder of NeighborhoodScout. “His solid reputation and background in taking companies to the next level will strengthen our capabilities and accelerate our placement into the marketplace.” Both Glick and Schiller hold Ph.D. degrees in Geography.
